Luxury Bathroom Designs
‘From Lacklustre to Luxurious’
inexpensive bathroom makeover in 5 steps
Despite being the smallest room in the house, the bathroom is also one of the best used-meaning it can be difficult to get it just right. You’re limited with your layout options and often with your decor too, since things like tiles aren’t easy to change. We’d all love to come home in the evening and relax in a luxurious, spa-like bathroom, like those luxury bathroom designs featured at Showersly, (I so looove their freestanding tubs, have a look!) but if yours is more drab than fab there’s no need to fret. Here are a few easy ways to spruce it up.
1. Update the Accessories
Having matching accessories can really help to tie everything together in the bathroom. If you haven’t updated yours in a while, chances are they’re looking a bit worse for wear. Things like hand towels and bath mats don’t last forever and can look very tired and worn after they’ve been used a lot. Choose an accent colour that matches with your current tiles and flooring, and pick up new accessories. These are things like a soap dispenser, toilet brush, a toothbrush holder, and decorative pieces.
2. Change the Taps
Ripping out your entire bathroom suite might not make much sense, especially if you’re on a budget. Luckily you can make it look much more high end, and in some cases like an entirely new bathroom just by updating the bathroom sink faucets. There are tonnes of glamorous designs to choose from, so it could be worth spending some time researching bathroom sink faucets. It’s a quick job for a plumber to do and can bring a whole new lease of life to your bathroom.
3. Invest in a Sliding Shower Screen
Shower curtains are mould traps and can bring down the look of the entire bathroom once they start to look shabby. Rather than replace yours with another shower curtain, how about a sleek looking sliding shower screen instead?
They’re not too expensive but will dramatically change how the room looks. Since they’re transparent, they can also make the bathroom look more spacious.
4. How to Clean Tile Grout
Even if you don’t have the funds to re-tile your bathroom, cleaning the grout can make it look fresh and new again. Over time grout will discolour and cause the bathroom look dirty, even when it isn’t. You can use grout whitening pens to brighten up old grout.
However, using a grout removal tool will give you an even better result. This scrapes off a layer of grout leaving, you free to fill it back in again with new stuff. This gives you the appearance of a freshly tiled bathroom.
5. Sort out Storage
You’re never going to achieve that spa-like feel in your bathroom when you’re surrounded by products! Us women are guilty of harbouring far too many beauty products, so the least we can do is find effective places to store them. Go for a small chest of drawers or cupboard. These will offer the most amount of storage for the least amount of floor space, which is handy in a small room like the bathroom. Adding hooks to the back of the door to hang towels, or using a wall mounted towel rail will help to keep things nice and tidy too.
