Fundamentals To Spruce Up Your Home
Are you getting bored with your home interior decor ? Is it time to change things up a bit ? If so check out my easy home decorating tips and get that wow factor back in your home.
A lick of paint
Everyone knows that a lick of paint can totally freshen up a room. Whether you go for a bright colour or a calming neutral, the job of painting itself can be tiresome.
Why not use one of these new machines for a speedy and even finish. Don’t forget to cover any furniture that is staying in the room while you are painting too !
Furniture
If your walls are looking ok, but you still need something different to liven up your room, how about investing in some new pieces of furniture? If you favour a luxe look, you could go for an ornate coffee table in the living room. Whatever theme for a room you choose, make sure that your new furniture fits the rest of your room decor, or you could end up having to redecorate after all.
Windows
One of the first things that can look tired and dated in a room is the curtains. They are in direct sunlight more than any other element of the room, and so are at risk of fading and discolouration. While curtains can be an expensive purchase if you get the custom made, you can pick up some more reasonable options from homeware stores.
The other option is to go for Roman, Venetian or some cheap Roller Blinds. These can give a room a clean, modern feel if done right and can be significantly cheaper than heavy weight curtains for the same size.
Flooring
Have you checked you floor lately? Is it clean, scuff and stain free? Does it look old and haggard? If it is starting to look past its sell-by date, it might be time to replace it. If you are living in an older house, it’s always worth pulling the current flooring up to see if there is an original hardwood or tile underneath. If this is the case you can get it cleaned and buffed, and voila you have your new floor. If you are living in a newer property, the chances are that the underfloor is concrete. This means you will need to replace your flooring with something else. Consider whether carpet, wood or stone would work best in your space. You must make sure you get at least three quotes for materials and installation before you hire someone to put it in for you.
Decoration
Getting some new home ornaments fora room can freshen it up. Try three or four vases in a similar colour for a dramatic effect. Change the art and the pictures you have on the wall. Or how about a large mirror to make the room seem more spacious? What you decide to put in your room is up to you. All really great ideas. I love how easy it is to spruce up with paint. A color change does the trick.
I like these tips! I’ll be moving to a new home in a few months and I’m already trying to get decoration inspiration. We are going to put in hardwoods on the 1st floor but I just have to find one that will be durable enough for my dog :/
Some lovely ideas here. The previous owner of the house we are in now had painted the walls in some gorgeous colours. I would never been brave enough to do it myself but I absolutely love coloured walls now. Like you say, it is an affordable way to joosh up your home!
I love Hardwood Floors so much. I hate cheap blinds but always end up with them, I like shades so much more or bamboo blinds. Great ideas for us on a budget!
Me too , I am a great fan of wood . Makes a home right cozy , and you can combine anything with wood , all colours and all styles . Can’t beat nature ! Thanks a lot for reading , loyal soul 🙂
