How to Get Rid of the 3 Most Annoying
Niggles That Can Mess Up Your Clean House
When you become a homeowner, you become houseproud. You may not expect it, but the two go hand in hand. In their own four walls, the most untidy people want to clean. Why? For the most part, none of us likes to live in an untidy space. You may have been able to overlook your mess when living in someone else’s property, but things are different in your home. You’ll want to keep the place looking nice, for guests and your mentality. We all deserve a clean space to return to!
But, sometimes cleaning won’t be enough to achieve the tidy home you’re after. If you clean like crazy and still find the place seems messy, you might have to take things further. We’re going to look at how to get rid of the niggles which can make a clean house seem untidy. Because, if you don’t know what the problems are, you won’t be able to solve them!
1 – How to Get Rid of The Clutter Once And For All
Clutter is the main culprit here, and it can be a hard issue to tackle in small homes. No matter how much you clean, clutter will make things look messy. There’s no getting around it. There’s a reason people are going crazy for minimalist designs; we love clear spaces! It’s the only real way to feel as though all your cleaning is paying off. It may even be that you don’t realise clutter is the problem.
Take a step back and look around your home. Are you floors clear, or is every inch covered? Is your coffee table free, or is it full of ornaments and books? If you answered the latter to both of these, you have a clutter conundrum on your hands. To solve the issue, first, ask yourself if everything is necessary. If you don’t use an item often, or it doesn’t have a direct purpose, it might be worth getting rid. Ornaments can look beautiful, but they aren’t worth the hassle if they’re cluttering your home.
If you can’t get rid of anything, think about how you could store things so they’re out of sight. Make the most of every space you can. Look under the sofas, and underneath tables. If you can’t see clutter, it’s not such a problem!
2 – How to Get Rid of The Musty Smell in The House
Another issue that can stop your home feeling clean is bad smells. We automatically relate smells in the home to uncleanliness. In all honesty, smells are usually a sign of something bad, but that doesn’t mean your cleaning isn’t up to scratch. Through no fault of your own, you may have a blocked drain which is causing the stink. If you think that’s the case, take a look at something like these reviews for drain cleaner and buy one to suit your needs. Products like these are affordable and easy to use. And, they’re always handy to have in the cupboard!
The chances are, you won’t be lucky enough to solve the issue straight away. If you’ve cleaned your drain and there’s still a musty smell in the house, move onto the next possibility. It may be that you need to do a rinse wash on your washing machine to erase that musty smell in the house. Or, perhaps you need to clean your furniture covers. Take this one step at a time so that you can diagnose the problem. That way, you’ll know what to do if the smell ever returns.
3 – How to Get Rid of The Stains in The Carpets
No matter how house proud you become, there’s nothing you can do to avoid stains on your carpets. Sometimes, your walls might even fall victim to an unsightly bruise! At the end of the day, accidents happen. That’s especially the case if you have kids or a taste for red wine!
The trouble is, having visible stains in your home will make it impossible to get the place as clean as you want. Your best efforts won’t remove that mark. Of course, the best way to remove stains from the carpet is to clean them the moment they happen. Once a stain has settled, it’ll be much harder to tackle. Stock up on carpet cleaner to use while the stain is still wet. It may seem strange, but it’s also worth keeping a cheap bottle of club soda in the cleaning cupboard. It works wonders for lifting red wine!
But, don’t fear if you’re working with an old stain, either. Though, bear in mind that you’ll need to work harder to get it out. It might be worth investing in a deep carpet clean here. It’s the best way to get rid of those stubborn marks!

I’m not a fan of clutter and whilst my house might not always pass the ‘glove’ test for dust it is usually tidy. Thanks for the tips.
I have to thank you, Sue! Lovely to see you stopping by 🙂
This is super helpful info.
I love a clean space. I’ve embraced a more minimalist lifestyle the past couple of years, and it’s the best thing ever. I used to work in a hospital, and they used this heavy duty cleaner that smelled like vinegar. I’ve taken to using vinegar, baking soda, and hot water as my main household cleaners. It’s definitely way better than smelling bleach. 🙂

Try ketchup for cleaning your metal bits in the house 😉 any copper, brass or bronze pieces will come out as new with just cheap ketchup, and no smell at all.
