When you’re new to a city, it can be an exciting experience. It’s a chance to hit the reset button and immerse yourself in a new culture. However, if you don’t know anybody, it can be a little intimidating and lonely. Consider these four tips on how to meet new people when you’re in a new city.

   1. Pick Up a Favourite Hobby or Class

If you have a certain flair for a specific hobby, consider finding communities surrounding said hobby. If you like to dance, visit a dance club on a night when they’re doing the style of dance you like doing. You can also join a dance company and take classes. That’s a great way to get immersed in one of your favourite hobbies and meet people at the same time.

Whether you’re a Christian, Muslim or Catholic, it’s always beneficial to be in a community of believers. You’ll meet people who are like-minded and can help you along the journey. Visit a few local churches to figure out which one you like the best.

Look for churches that have people your age in it. This will help you to connect with others and feel a part of something bigger than yourself.

Many online communities are amazing because they allow you to interact with people and get a feel for them before you meet in person. If you’re looking to date, you can use online communities to find latino singles, for instance, or any other like-minded people to meet. 

If you would like to connect with people who are into specific hobbies like travelling or photography, you can connect online first. Then, you can meet in person. This is more common than a lot of people realize. 

   4. Ask Friends for Connections

Take advantage of your connections. Ask people that you know if they have friends and family in the area you’re moving to. If they do, ask them to connect you to their people. As you meet new people and connect with others, you’ll broaden your community base.
