There is little more frustrating than settling down for a little peace and quiet in your yard only to be disturbed by a swarm of wasps, ants or even the odd mouse. Unfortunately the warmer weather brings you outdoors and attracts an array of pests o do the same.   • Inspect Your Home

The first thing you should do is walk round your home and look for any possible gaps that could allow a pest in. You’ll be surprised at how many pests can get in the smallest of gaps. In fact it is a good idea to get a pest control service to inspect your home with you. This will help you to understand where the risks are and what to do about them.

  • Seal It Up

Once you’ve identified the entrance points you need to seal them up. This is something you should do in the spring to prevent it from becoming an issue. However, if it is already summer then there is no point in waiting; get the cracks sealed!

  • Keep It Clean

Pests are attracted to sources of food. As soon as you finished preparing or eating food you need to clear it away. Ideally open packets of food should be kept in sealed plastic containers. You should also clear your dishes away and ash them up or put them in the dishwasher. Even a crumb can be a meal to a small pest so make sure you wipe all surfaces down thoroughly.

  • Remove The Rubbish

Rubbish is simply food to a pest. You need to make sure it is fully bagged up and at least 6 foot away fro your home. Ideally it should be placed inside a sealed bin as well.

  • Keep Firewood Away

Firewood is the perfect hoe for termites, ants and many other pests. Again, this should be at least 6 feet from your home to make it less attractive for the pests to travel to your home.

  • Avoid Standing Water

Standing water is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. It is also an essential source of water for many other pests. If you have any standing water round your house or yard you need to get rid of it

  • Separate The Toys

If you have children then they are likely to play with certain toys outside and different ones inside. You’ll need to make it a rule that the outside toys are never brought into the house. Pests can stick to these toys and be brought into the house unnoticed; creating an issue.

  • Use A Fan

Fans are great t move the air and keep your house cooler. But a fan will also make it difficult for a winged insect to enter your home.

  • Natural Herb Deterrents

There are a number of different herbs that can keep pests away. Lavender and citrus are too of the most popular ad powerful options.  As well as keeping the pests away it will make your garden smell nice!

  • Be Vigilant

Finally it is important to remain vigilant even after you have inspected and rectified any issues. If you notice any pests arriving near your hoe then you should take immediate action. The sooner you deal with a potential problem the easier it will be to control it.
