Self-Defense Moves & Tips

every woman should know

author: Peter Minkoff

Living in the 21st century comes with a number of benefits, but it’s not as safe as people generally think it is. It doesn’t matter where you live and how old you are – you could become a victor of an assault in a matter of minutes. This is particularly true for women, which is why they might want to consider looking into self-defense classes for women or at least into a few basic self defense moves.

These things are simple yet quite effective, and they could easily end up making the difference between life and death in some situations. So, what are some of the most useful self-defense moves all women should know, and how can you learn them as well?

get prepared mentally

Violence against women is still wide-spread today, how many women are living in a bad relationship and remain silent for years?! Most of them still believe nothing really bad can happen to them. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, and this kind of attitude is what’s putting so many women in danger of getting hurt on a daily basis. This is precisely why getting prepared mentally is the first thing they need to do.

This might not be as easy as it sounds, but getting ready to face attacks comes with a number of benefits. The women who are ready and alert at all times are able to face assaults and react to them more properly, ultimately managing to defeat their attackers and avoid getting injured. Learn how to react to threats and how to reach safety quickly, and you’ll be more protected than ever.

learn a few self-defense moves

There are lots of ways you could get attacked and injured, and that’s why learning a few basic tricks about self-defense is something you need to start doing as soon as possible. Depending on your physique, your posture, your weight, and height, any women can find a fighting technique or two they can rely on no matter what happens. A simple punch in the face, in the crotch, or in the chest might not sound like a lot at first, but you’d be surprised to learn how far this sort of reaction can go.

Learning a few tricks about self-defense is something you should do.

What most women don’t know is that the majority of attackers actually don’t expect any sort of reaction, and throwing a punch will surprise them enough to give you a chance to run away to safety. And if you kick a male attacker right in the crotch, you’ll probably enable them to do anything else for a while, so you can walk away gracefully, knowing you’ve protected yourself in the best way possible.

take the extra step

Unfortunately, defending yourself by throwing punches is sometimes just not enough. We live in a world that’s harsh and cruel, and some attackers have so little respect for women that you might have to buy a gun in order to protect yourself. With ‘gun’, we speak about gas pistols, pepper spray or a legal shocker, other than the US guns are illegal in Europe. This is just sad and tragic, of course, but having to use a teaser or even a real gun in order to protect your safety is always better than being attacked.

However, before you could buy or use a handgun, (given guns are legal in your country) you’d need to look into lots of details and learn tons of new things. From all those rules that regulate the use of guns to getting a protective handgun safe that will keep your weapon close-by at all times – look into all these things and get ready. Also, don’t forget that using a handgun is a serious matter – particularly when compared to throwing a punch or kicking someone in the crotch – so think twice before making any moves.

look into martial arts

If you want to be extra safe and feel protected even without a handgun, you should consider exploring the world of martial arts. Even though most people believe that martial arts are too cruel and physically demanding for women, this is as far from the truth as possible. On the contrary, the number of women who are getting into martial arts is constantly getting higher and higher, which is great not just for their self-defense, but their self-confidence too.
