The Best Engagement Ring Shopping Guide – ©klaudiascorner.netBefore you head out and spend money on an engagement ring, make sure you know the five following crucial tips on choosing a diamond engagement ring online. This is your chance to make a great impression when you pop the big question!
1. Diamond Shape/Cut
There are so many diamond shapes that it can be mind boggling to choose the “right one”. Here are a few types you should familiarize yourself with.
♦ Round – The most popular diamond shape is the round diamond. Due to its beauty and brilliant look, this is a sure fire way to get a “yes” from your sweetheart.
♦ Princess – This diamond is characterized by its square shape and is a popular choice for those who are looking for a nice sparkle and clean lines.
♦ Cushion – Described best as “antique”, this diamond shape is classic and timeless, for those who love the elegant and vintage look.
♦ Emerald – Clarity is key for the emerald diamond, which is named after the emerald gem. For those who prefer clarity of sparkle, this is a wonderful choice.
These are just a few of the diamond shapes, with the others being oval, radiant, pear, Asscher, marquise, and heart shaped diamond.
2. Diamond Clarity
If a diamond has internal defects, known as inclusions, it isn’t considered to be perfectly clear. In general, this isn’t a huge deal unless you are looking to buy an emerald cut diamond or Asscher diamond. If you are purchasing one of these diamonds, make sure to check that it has a minimum clarity of VS2.
3. Diamond Carat
This is going to be one of the main factors on the price of the diamond on your engagement ring. The carat refers to the weight of the diamond itself, but it is important that you don’t choose a larger carat diamond over clarity or cut.
4. The Metals
When selecting the engagement ring, there are a few different metals that you can choose from for the band. The following is listed by price, from highest to lowest:
• Platinum
• Gold
• Palladium
• Sterling Silver
5. The Ring Style
There are various styles of rings that you can choose, and you can choose from the different diamond shapes to go with these ring styles. Here are the most common ring styles to choose from:
• Solitaire
• Halo
• Three-stone
• Classic
• Masterwork
Asking your partner about their preferred ring type, or browsing through affordable engagement rings online is a great way to get a feel for their personal style and taste.
Hopefully, with these tips on choosing the best engagement ring, you will be prepared to pop the question and get an enthusiastic “Yes”.
Good luck, and congratulations!
Great share!! This guide is definitely going to help a lot of wedding couples in the process of buying an engagement ring.
Thanks a lot for your feedback, that’s much appreciated!!
I’ve always wondered about women who get their engagement ring as part of the proposal – what if they hate it? It’s something you wear for a very long time, so you’d want to be sure it was a style you loved and wanted to look at for 50 years or more! I still love my diamonds (although I did have an extra couple added for my 50th birthday – I told my husband I needed to have bigger ones because my eyesight was fading!)
Hahahaha, Leanne, I love that! And your eyesight won’t get any better with the years 😉 Thanks for coming overxx
